Ottmar Liebert’s global success can be attributed to a myriad of things – his creative vision, his determination, and a strong sense of melody. Born in Cologne, Germany, he began playing guitar at 11. Before the age of 19, Liebert had intended to stay in Germany and pursue a career as a designer and photographer. However, while journeying extensively through Asia and playing with other travelers and local musicians, he realized that he could not escape a life of music. He started playing tenor sax in high school, and then migrated to soprano sax. His passion for various types of music led him down an eclectic musical path. Meadows first hit the airwaves in 1991 with “For Lovers Only”, but his career really began one day in the late ‘80s at New York’s Grand Central Station. He had been a sideman with Connors for three years, with only vague notions of eventually going solo. One day, while waiting for a train, he pulled out his horn and began playing under the huge dome. His sweet sound caught the attention of fellow traveler, producer and TV composer Jay Chattaway, who happened to be passing by on his way to the train. Chattaway was so impressed with Meadows’ sound that he hooked Meadows up with legendary keyboardist Bob James. Meadows and James collaborated on a recording that unfortunately went unreleased. The experience put him on the road to his eventual success. Meadows hooked up with numerous artists and musicians and became a well-known sideman in his own right, recording or performing over the years with Brook Benton, Eartha Kitt, Phyllis Hyman, Jean Carne, The Temptations, Michael Bolton, Angela Bofill, Will Downing, Bob Baldwin, Chuck Loeb, John Lee, among many others.

Brian Simpson

After graduating from Northern Illinois University, keyboardist and composer Brian Simpson relocated to Los Angeles where he was soon playing alongside musicians Gerald Albright and Norman Brown and eventually on a world tour with Janet Jackson. In 1990 Simpson received a call from George Duke that led to a decade of touring and production work with the late jazz legend. It was his tenure with George that led to working with a variety of artists, from James Ingram and Anita Baker to Dave Koz and Wayman Tisdale. The popularity of his music world wide has kept Mr. Simpson on a seemingly endless world tour which in 2019 included Japan, Australia, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Spain, United Kingdom, Portugal, and South Africa. With writing and performing credits on R&B chart-topping albums and Smooth Jazz Airplay charts, it’s clear why Brian is the veteran Music Director of so many jazz events. Brian is a recording artist with Shanachie Entertainment which released his eleventh CD entitled Soul Connection (2023).

Lit emerged from the late ‘90s post-grunge era as one of Southern California’s defining power punk bands, earning a devoted following with hard-charging hits including “My Own Worst Enemy,” which also received a Billboard Music Video Award nomination, as well as “Miserable,” “Zip-Lock” and “Lipstick & Bruises.” Over the course of its career, the band has released seven studio albums, including the RIAA-certified platinum record “A Place in the Sun,” and is currently writing and recording new material and continuing to bring its signature sound to live audiences.

Joining the night’s lineup is Sponge, the American alternative rock band formed in Detroit in 1992. The band rose to prominence with its platinum-selling debut album “Rotting Piñata” which achieved global, critical and commercial success alongside the album’s second single “Plowed.” The band followed with 1996’s “Wax Ecstatic,” which earned a “Song of the Year” nomination from Rolling

Stone for its title track. The band’s catalog also includes fan favorites “Molly (16 Candles),” which hit number three on Billboard’s Alt Rock chart, and “Have You Seen Mary,” which number seven on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. Led by frontman Vinnie Dombroski, Sponge has released nine studio albums and four live albums and continues to tour and release new music, carrying its influential alternative rock sound to fans across generations.

Queen Nation is the West Coast’s longest running most authentic fully costumed re- creation of a Vintage Queen concert. Over the course of crafting a 29-album catalog and architecting 40 Billboard #1 singles as a keyboardist, songwriter and producer, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Label him jazz and he makes a funk record. Call him an R&B artist and he drops an acoustic jazz trio collection. Brand him pop and he creates a 32-minute New Age opus. And you’d be hard pressed to name another instrumentalist of his ilk who can mount an elaborately designed concert production that will keep him on the road for three consecutive months. Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. “Long Night Out” landed him a lengthy record deal and signaled that a star was born. Flash forward to present day, Culbertson has been going back and listening more and more to music that inspired him as a young musician such as David Sanborn, The Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny, and others in the jazz fusion world. “It instantly brought me back to the days of ‘no rules’ and the pure joy of music, something that I think a lot of albums today are lacking. With that said, I set out to write and produce a new album that would try to capture a little bit of that late 70’s and early 80’s spirit of music exploration, along with using only live musicians and real instruments. Similar in style to “Another Long Night Out”, “Day Trip” is the daytime version!” said Culbertson.
